Miss Me?

Life has been busy…and hot. We had an awful heat wave last week & it pretty much wiped me out. Whenever I had a free moment my only desire was to lay down. Very pregnant women and 115 degree heat indexes do not mix. I’m very grateful for a babysitter who takes Elle to the pool nearly 4 times a week so I don’t feel guilty about keeping her indoors.

In other news…Elle has decided that she would much rather pee in her panties than the toilet. Yup, it’s a lot of fun. Oh and napping. She is boycotting those. The problem there is that she TOTALLY still needs them.

Lets do the math here:

enormously pregnant + 115 heat index + toddler pee + napless, emotional 3 year old = Crabby, tired mom

Long story short…you should probably be glad that I didn’t blog last week. Surely it would have been a week full of whiny posts. So, you’re welcome! Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow with some positive things to say.

What? It’s Possible…Ok, Probably Not.

Earlier Joe, Elle & I were all in the grocery doing a bit of shopping.  I have a tendency to let us run completely out of food before I force myself to go.  Anyway, not the point.  As we were leaving, I handed Joe some cash because he was going to go meet some guys for cheap wings at Buffalo Wild Wings & didn’t have much cash on him.  I happened to give him a bunch of one dollar bills & he immediately comments jokingly that maybe he’ll hit up the strip bars on his way home (totally joking, parents).  I chime in with a “where do you think I earned those singles!”  And of course, he instantly starts laughing because this was all coming from his 8 month pregnant wife.  The laughter continued for quite a while…but he did pause long enough to tell me that I need to “blog that”.

Weekend With Dad

Believe it or not, Joe was actually in town on Father’s Day weekend! Elle & I were able to schedule our weekend around hanging out with him. We started off on Friday afternoon by going to Circus Flora. It was Elle’s first circus experience and she was not too excited about it. She seemed to think that we were going to leave her with the gypsies thanks to a Madeline book. Although, I must admit, the thought did cross my mind (just kidding). We promised to keep her safe with us the entire time. The circus was great but there was one little issue. They claim to be air conditioned…I claim that they are liars. Ugh. It was so hot, their little air conditioning was not able to keep it cool in the tent. Beside that one issue, we had a wonderful time. I’m sure we will be going next year. They don’t allow pictures during the show so you’ll have to trust me, it was cool.

Before the show started

I have no idea why I am posting this. Not my finest picture. Elle & I were waiting for Joe to fetch her flip flop that she dropped UNDER the stands. The show was over and she was super hot & super tired.

After that we did some Father’s Day shopping with him. We scored big because Old Navy has all their men’s clothing half off this weekend! Then this morning Joe had a big writting session with FE, so Elle & I cleaned the house, ran some errands, made dinner (highly recommended, btw) and created this:

Our new favorite thing is window crayons. It kept her attention for so long! I had picked them up at Target last week & this was our first time using them. I’ll let you know if they are difficult to clean off, but so far they are a huge hit at our house.

Dad loved it!

We wrapped up our evening a quick trip to Oberweis thanks to Elle earning it with her potty chart (we’ve been having a few issues with her initiating the need to use the restroom).

The perfect end to a busy 2 days...and it isn't even Father's Day yet.

Nesting

I’m pretty sure that I am going to want to swap bedrooms with little Miss Paisley soon. Right now the room is sooo far from being ready, but we’re getting closer. First of all, you should know that all of her furniture is black. Black crib, black shelving unit, black wall shelves…you get the picture. The wall color is a beautiful smoky purple color that Graphic Design USA calls Paisley Purple & is projecting as a hot color for 2010 home interiors. Yup, you read that right, we’re hip! Sooo ahead of the trends. Then I also just ordered these for the wall behind her crib (I think). I ordered them in grey. I’m pretty sure that they will be my favorite part of her room. So bold but adorable, I can’t wait for them to arrive. And I’m also thinking about making a couple of these to hang from the ceiling over the glider (but I would probably use a grey or black yarn, not hemp).

Plus, I have a couple other project ideas floating around in my head…anybody want to hit up some thrift or antique shops this weekend? I think the nesting instinct is starting to kick in.
