A couple weeks ago I was watching Oprah & the episode was about talking to your children about divorce. Divorce is not something I have ever had to deal with personally. But there was something about this show that drew me in. About 30 seconds into the show I was already in tears. They were talking with a father and his 2 children that were dealing with their wife/mother abandoning them. The kids spend some time in a therapy session and Oprah showed some clips, but then the kids wrote letters to their mom. The little girl (probably around 7 years old) was reading hers and was talking about how she misses making cookies with her. Ever since then I have wanted to make cookies with Elle. I think I was just wanting a bonding moment. I wanted Elle to begin making memories. Nice thought, right! Ummm…making cookies with a 16 month old is pretty much impossible…I know from experience now. Elle had a blast standing on a kitchen chair and putting frosting and sprinkles on sugar cookies. It was a mess, but so much fun. After we finished she spent a good 10 minutes licking the frosting off a cookie.

Our weekend was busy but a blast. Our brief night away was so needed. We had 6 whole hours in the car just to talk. Then we were rushing to get to home to get the kid and run back over to Illinois for the band to play at a Youth Rally featuring Josh McDowell. The boys did a great job, as always. They are so stinking talented! If you have not checked out their page click on the Fundamental Elements link on the left. They are have a St. Louis show this Friday night, we’d love for anyone to come out.

Also, the wedding was really beautiful. Kevin & Katie have great taste & that was obvious in the ceremony. Katie walked down the aisle to a Dashboard Confessional song, but she didn’t just come in when the song started, she waited until the music was at climax. It was like something you would see in a movie. Then she was ADORABLE during the ceremony. You could tell that she didn’t quite know what to do with her self, she was kinda squirrelly. Fidgeting a lot, giggling, fixing Kevin’s pocket square and then making a face to the congregation that said “why did I just do that?”. So cute! I didn’t get any great pictures because I didn’t want to use a flash.

I will NEVER begin a blog post with “A couple of weeks ago I was watching Oprah.”
