Robo-Uncle

Monday, March 31, 2008

Yesterday Laura came over to spend the afternoon with us…ok really with Chris, but it’s a package deal now. After just hanging out around the house we all headed to Target. Laura had a birthday last week & she had a gift card burning a hole in Chris’s pocket. They ended up buying a puzzle! When we got home we had an interesting spread for dinner. The meal consisted of a frozen CPK pizza, mac & cheese with hot dogs, & chips and salsa. Elle had mac & cheese, green beans, & cottage cheese…I have never seen a child shovel food in her mouth so quickly. I think we created her favorite meal!

Joe & Laura headed to rent a movie (which I later made them turn off because it was wayyyy inappropriate) for us to watch while working on the puzzle. While they were gone, I cleaned up dinner & Chris entertained Elle. I walked into the living room to find this (he said he was a robot):

Elle has now been begging to be a robot all morning.

Excuse Me, Ma’am. I Think You’re Going A Little Too Fast

Monday, March 31, 2008

I’m having one of those moments where I get freaked out by all that Elle is doing. How can she possibly be turning 2 in just 2 short months? She is currently sitting next to me on the couch watching a full length movie (not one of those segmented short toddler flicks, no she’s too mature for that). Last night she asked for a pillow in her crib . I gave her a pillow but took it out of her bed when I was heading to bed myself, I’m not sure why I took it out but in my head she is too small for a pillow. Actually, we have recently caught her trying to lift her leg over the top of her crib, so I’m not sure how much longer the crib will even be around. Her vocabulary blows me away everyday. She is using 6+ word sentences. Joe is sure to have her reciting all of the Cardinal players & their positions by the end of the week (he used to try to teach me that every year, but I’m happy to pass that trick off to Elle). Lip gloss has become a new obsession, and as you saw over the weekend, if the is not lip gloss accessible she will substitute for a yellow crayon. The lip gloss addiction just reminds me that I need to enjoy the toddler years, before I know it she will be 16 years old & asking for my car keys. Slow down little girl!!

la-la-la-lazy

Elle has yet another double ear infection. That is 2 in one month! Actually, her doc suspects that it may be that the 1st infection didn’t clear up totally. Anyway in honor of a double ear infection, a tired mom due to running Hotel McGill this week (we have housed 6 extra people in the last 4 days) , & an absent Dad (he was only home 2 days this week due to band stuff (& 1 of those days we where on our date night))…Elle & I are staying home all day & being really lazy.

Elle confused her yellow crayon for lip gloss I wonder what she confused for a hairbrush?

Surprise Rendezvous

Saturday, March 29, 2008

Joe and I have two amazing friends (they are family too…but family does not necessarily mean that you are friends). Jim & Alisha wanted to bless us with an evening away. Sounds nice enough right? Well they didn’t stop there. They got us a suite on the top floor of the Hilton in Downstown St. Louis. It was a great room that included a giant jacuzzi tub. It doesn’t stop there, they filled the room with lots of fun stuff (chocolate, wine, candles, etc.). Plus gift certificates and reservations at Vin De Set and Bailey’s Chocolate Bar. And…that’s right, and…a pedicure and some foot lotion for me & a Starbuck’s gift certificate & book for Joe (so he could go next door and relax while I was getting my pedicure).

It was a great night. We were able to have a conversation that didn’t get interrupted by a 22 month old. It was extra special because they planned all this not knowing it was 9 years to the day of when Joe & I became an official couple. We had a chance to talk about our past but also what our future may be looking like. Anyway, it was really nice. We had no idea what our plans were for the evening until about 4:00 on Thursday. Needless to say, it was a huge surprise.

You may be asking where was Elle during all of this? Jim & Alisha stayed with her at our house. They spoiled her rotten, on Friday morning Alisha took her to preschool time at Bounce U. Elle has been talking about the slide there ever since. They both love Elle so much, she is blessed to have them in her life.

This all kinda makes you want to befriend Jim & Alisha doesn’t it??

Grandma & Grandpa’s Visit

My parents were in town the first half of the week. Here are some pictures. Dad: I don’t have the slide pictures from Chic-Fil-A. Can you email them to me?

Being a White Sox fan will do this to you.
