Speaking Of…

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

As long as we are on the topic of having things written on for us. Every single one of you need to click here and to go the brand new website for Fundamental Elements. They have the new site up and running.  One the upper right hand side in a little gray box that says music. 3 of the 4 songs there are on their new album. The 2nd song is called “That Girl.” Joe may kill me for writing this, but it is a song that he wrote for Elle. I know…too cute, right!? Normally he doesn’t start conversations with telling people what his songs are about because it’s kinda cool for the music to mean different things to different people (or something like that).

But seriously, it’s a great song (as are all 4 of the songs on there). If hearing those songs doesn’t make you become a FE fan, your ears must be broken or something real sad like that.

“Daddy’s Little Girl”

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

In 6 days there will be a book published with a story from my past on page 51. About a year ago, my Dad was approached by Gregory E. Lang (NY Times best selling author) after he stumbled upon my dad’s blog. Mr Lang was in the process of writing a book about bonds between daughters and fathers. He knew from dad’s blog that he had a daughter (that would be me) & enjoyed my dad’s writing. He asked dad if he could write a brief story about his father/daughter bond & email it to him with the possibility of it being in his book.

Well, we made the cut! It’s pretty funny because Mr Lang went and re-wrote story in his own words & changed all the names. He sent us a copy of the book & dad brought it to me last week when he was in town. I opened it up to page 51 & found that my dad had crossed out all the fake names and written in the correct names.

Anyway, it’s really kinda cool. I haven’t read any of the other stories yet…but I’m sure they aren’t nearly as good as mine. I’m sure the book will be everywhere in time for Father’s Day. Check it out if you get a chance, “Daddy’s Little GIrl” by Gregory E. Lang.

I fell in love with these sunglasses at baby Gap. Joe said she looks like Elton John. Receding hairline & big glasses. You be the judge.

Ton ‘O Junk

Last week was Chris’ 23rd birthday. So…we went to Olive Garden for dinner & the boys decided that they needed to go to Dave & Busters afterwards. Laura, Alisha, Elle & I all came back to our house while the boys had some bonding time. Elle went to bed & the 3 of us ladies spent the rest of the evening chatting. We were all nearly asleep in my living room when the guys finally got home. I knew from the look on Joe’s face that he was really excited about something. Turns out that they redeemed all the tickets from the evening on the most junk they could get. He pulls a bag from behind his back & dumps this on the middle of the floor:

Laura was really excited about the finger traps.

The little sticky balls stuck in Alisha’s hair really well.

Yes, I Am A Jr High Girl At Heart!

I’m very aware that I’m about to sound like a 12 year old girl…but I just learned something that makes me very happy.  You see, I’ve have had a little obsession with Jennifer Anniston since the early days of Friends.  Then John Mayer stole my heart back in college.  Yesterday the two had a lunch date, followed by a dinner date.  They even shared dessert.  <sigh>

Joe & I used to tease that the only people we were allowed to cheat on each other with were Jennifer Anniston & Brad Pitt.  My heart was very sad when the two of them split.  I hated Angelina Jolie for a long time…and then she had to go and get all “save the orphans/I really am a decent lady”…I guess I’m cool with her now (I’m sure she’ll sleep better know that).

Joe & I both have been huge John Mayer fan for several years.  Joe is especially a fan of Mr. Mayer’s guitar skills.  We have been to at least 5 of his shows and literally have every song he has ever recorded.  We’ll be seeing him again in early July (AHHH…maybe Jen will be there!!!).

This Jen/John Match has the McGill house stamp of approval.  If you want read about their evening out click here.
