A Whole New Meaning

Thursday, July 31, 2008

I think I have mentioned on here before that one of my little side jobs is to work as a wedding coordinator at our church. It a fun, little job that just adds a little cash to our bank account about 5 times a year. I’m finding that the older I get, the more I get choked up at weddings (we’re talking teary eyed, not tears running down my face). This last wedding I did, I found myself a tad more emotional than usual.

Surely, you all remember the Steven Curtis Chapman song “I Will Be Here.” Normally I would have totally rolled my eyes at that song. Way over done, remember 10 years ago when it was played at every wedding you attended. But this time it totally got to me. I started thinking about everything the Chapman family has been through in the past several month. It just amazes me that he wrote this song for his wife & now they are living exactly what he said. It could easily be just a sappy love song, but to see if being lived out first hand is pretty amazing. Here are the song lyrics (try not to tear up…I dare ya 🙂 )

I Will Be Here(Steven Curtis Chapman)

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
and the sun does not appear
I will be here
If in the dark, we lose sight of love
Hold my hand, and have no fear
‘Cause I will be here

I will be here
When you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin’
Through the winning, losing and trying
We’ll be together
I will be here

Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I will be here
Just as sure as seasons were made for change
Our lifetimes were made for these years
So I will be here

I will be here
And you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we’re older
I will hold you
And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here

I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me

Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the sun does not appear
I will be here
Oh, I will be here.

Little Helper

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Recently Elle has been quite the little helper around the house. If I give her a little task she is usually more than happy to help out. LIke yesterday, I was straightening up the house & I asked her to put the camera charger in on my bed. She ran & did it right away. Later she also stacked up all the coloring books she had thrown around the room. It’s also been a good way to keep her out of stuff while I’m busy.

Monday as I was heading out the door to the gym, Elle comes running down the hall shouting “Mommy. Mommy, Mommy.” I stop & look down to find her holding up one of my strapless bras. In her most concerned voice she said, “You almost forgot this!” I, of course, thanked her & laughed at the thought of working out in a strapless bra.

Ladies & Gentlemen

We had a busy day, but after nap-time I decided that it was potty training time again.  Elle took off her diaper at 6pm.  She peed in the potty 4 times & had ZERO accidents!  Not a bad way to end the day.

PS:  I’m so sore today.  It hurts to type.

Things I Will Never Understand:

Tuesday, July 29, 2008
  • How I ALWAYS empty the bottle of conditioner before the shampoo.
  • How my dog is not bald after shedding insane amounts of hair for months.
  • Why I can’t keep on top of laundry for my little family of 3.
  • How kid’s nails & feet grow so stinking fast.
  • Why my keys always get eaten by my purse.
  • How all the Food Network I watch hasn’t rubbed off on me one bit.
  • Why our sliding glass door always sticks. Grrrr.
  • Why I insist on helping my husband find a parking spot, as if he can’t figure it out on his own. I have control issues.
