I have recently fallen in love with several crafty blogs. I could literally spend my entire day looking at these sites & dreaming of how crafty & creative I could potentially …maybe…someday be. If only I could do all these things with hot glue. Sewing & I don’t get along, but me & hot glue, we’re tight. When I sew on a button, it looks like a 7 year old did it.
My mom has always wanted to teach me how to sew, but I have adamantly fought that for as long as I can remember. Sewing always meant making old lady curtains to me. Sewing had nothing to do with being creative as far as I was concerned. Ha, what did I know!
Anyway, here are a few crafty things that I would love to make potentially…maybe…someday.
-If I were to one day begin sewing I would need first make one of these adorable pincushions.
-I NEED these. Too bad Elle’s birthday is 10 months away. I’m thinking I may throw myself a party for my own birthday next month just so I have a excuse to make this birthday garland.
-Both of these are from my newest favorite website. I am currently having a love affair with owls. And if you are a friend of mine…don’t look at the bottom 2 pictures because you may just be getting this for Christmas this year.

I also love looking at crafty blogs. If only I had more time…
And I have also always wanted to learn how to sew. St. Louis Community College has reasonably priced classes starting in September, so I might take a class. Other classes that I have looked into have been too expensive!

Sewing is a wonderful skill but I don’t put it into the “craftsy” category. I guess it is if you are creating something original. I can’t do that. No right-brainedness in me. I sew from patterns although lately I don’t have any spare time for that.
I taught Jessica to sew last summer. Since then she has made several dresses, a skirt, a valance for her bedroom and she has a nice Asian-styled shirt in the works.
If you can find someone to teach you sewing (I learned in 4-H when I was in 5th or 6th grade) it is a skill you will use the rest of your life.

Are you stalking me on the Intraweb, by any chance?? I frequent the above noted blogs on a regular basis. I especially adore anyone who also designs his/her own textiles (bailey, butler, etc.). If I could actually draw (and not rely on tracing), I would love to design fabric. That has always been a dream of mine. Oh, and I was serious about us doing crafts together…I can cover you on the sewing bit or teach you a thing or two if you want 🙂

Hey, thanks for the link to my stuff! I know what you mean about maybe and someday…I spend a lot of fruitless time gazing at craft blogs and planning to make things…instead of making them! 🙂
Jump into sewing. You’ll never look back.
