Branching Out

Elle has one prayer. She uses every night at dinner. “Thank you for our food. Amen.” We have tried so hard to get her to branch out.  But she refuses & sticks strictly to her old standard.  It’s a running joke in our family that Elle should pray because they want to eat as quickly as possible.

Last night Elle went to my Jr High small group with me. The girls loved her & all begged to babysit her sometime. It was sweet. At the end of the evening I asked if any of them wanted to close us in prayer & o Elle insisted that she pray. Here’s how it went:

Elle: “Thank you…(pause)…(turns & head to me & whispers)…for our meeting??

Me: (also whispering) “Yes”

Elle: “Oh! Thank you for our meeting. Amen”

You know, I like it when people pray “to the point.” Nice job, Elle! You are teaching us something.
