Hobby Hump Day

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

For those of you crafty blog hoppers out there, you are probably aware that there was a huge movement to make all handmade gifts for Christmas this year. It is insane to me that people are able to pull this off. I can’t even begin to imagine doing that. But I love the idea, so I decided to do a few hand-made gifts. Last week I posted the table that was semi-handmade for Elle. The other 2 gift I made were cloth napkins for Nicole (who blogged a few months ago about how her family is going green by no longer using disposable napkins) & a purse for Kristi (my sister-in-law).

The napkins turned out fine *CLOSE YOUR EYES, NICOLE* but I think my sewing skills have improved immensely since I made Kristi’s purse…so Nicole may be getting a new set of napkins if I can find the time. Anyway, they have different fabrics on each side & I used a blue ric-rak between the layers.

Kristi’s purse made me insanely nervous to make. I have not done much sewing…and zero sewing with a pattern. It took quite a bit of time. And I only had to take it completely apart once. Now, it isn’t perfect, but if you squint your eyes it is. So if you see Kristi, just squint & tell her how much you like her purse, ok!?

Hats

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Imagination.  It’s an interesting thing to watch from the outside.  Elle’s has been running rampant lately.  It pretty much has me laughing hysterically 90% of the time, mostly because I have zero idea what she is talking about.

Last week her favorite thing to do was put hats on people’s head and call it a certain kind of hat.  Then she would talk to the person as if they were doing the job that applied to their hat.

For instance, my poor husband had spent a very long time planning our church’s Christmas Eve service.  I mean a LONG time…like months.  Once crunch time came, he was working non-stop.  Most nights he was even working from home until 2am.  Elle came up to him, place a hat on his head while he was working & called it the “Farmer Hat”.  Oddly enough, it looked nothing like a farmer hat to me.

This is Elle wearing the “Money Hat”.  She proceeded to pretend to collect money from everyone and everything around her.  I told her that she should call it a “Government Hat” instead.  Just kidding.  Kinda.

Christmas Recap…Finally

Monday, December 29, 2008

Ah! Ok, I’m back. It was nice to know that I was missed the past couple days. We’ve been so busy & once things slowed down our internet disappeared.

We had a wonderful Christmas. Elle was completely overwhelmed on Christmas morning. She informed me as she opened EACH GIFT that she didn’t want me talking when she opened it. She would say, “Don’t say a word, Mom.” It was a lovely gimps at what my life will be like when she is 13.

I’m not sure what the best way to tackle this post would be…so I think I’m just going to do a pictures & briefly talk about each pic.

No Internet

Monday, December 29, 2008

Our internet has been down for days. Today I tried yelling mean things at it. It didn’t help. Hopefully my handy husband will figure it out tonight & I’ll be back super quick.
