The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

by

The Good:

  • When leaving her babysitters house (when we had an ice storm the night before) Elle asked, “Who put the ice on the floor?” She has the most confused look on her face. It was priceless.
  • Today while waiting in the car to Joe to run into a store she said, “My dad is goofy. I enjoy him.”
  • “Please make the commercials be over.” Her entire TV experience up to this point has been PBS or Playhouse Disney.
  • She is getting the concept of using the word “please” to help get what she wants. Lately the phrase “PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE” is used when she desires anything.

The Bad:

  • Lately Elle has been a tad emotional. She gets worked up about the littlest things. Random things. Like tonight, Elle wanted to get into the container of grapes on the table. But I had told her multiple times to stay out of the grapes. Joe caught her in the act of sneaking grapes so he told her no & removed her from the container. She instantly burst into tears. Once she calmed down enough to talk she informed Joe that he hurt her feelings.
  • This goes along with being emotional, but lately she begs & pleads to hold my hand when we are in the car. It’s pretty ridiculous but I keep reminding myself that before I know it she will not want to show me any affection.

The Ugly:

  • Nearly every time we have to reprimand her about anything she gets all worked up & says, “DON’T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!” Trust me, you don’t want to know what happens after that. It isn’t pretty.

šŸ™‚ You are so getting what you deserve. I remember taking you through a real car wash (not the hand held “wand” kind … the real brushes going over the car and the blow dryer and all everything deal) several time when you were about Elle’s age. You thought the devil had you by the head. I have NEVER heard screaming like that. And all I wanted was a clean car! The louder you screamed the sooner I took you back!

I think that’s why you have that odd twitch.

She has an absolutely amazing vocabulary for her age!

Well maybe you don’t want to know what happens after that but I wouldn’t mind hearing about it once. ha ha
So ask Joe where she gets that?!

tell elle that i enjoyed this.

seriously…so funny that she used that word to describe joe!

one of my siblings reacted the same way to the automatic car wash, so don’t feel bad šŸ˜‰

I SOOO hear you about being emotional. Libby is going through the same thing. I think she (and probably Elle, too) is at that age where she understands more, but isn’t sure how to articulate what her concerns are.

Oh, and she also “tattles” on us when we have to discipline her. If I put her in time out or take away a toy, she’ll go to John and say, “Mommy made me real mad.” She gets zero sympathy, but it’s still pretty darn cute.

Lucy has been super emotional recently, too! Norah didn’t go through this until about 3+ so I am glad to know that there are other 2 1/2 year olds who are acting the same way.
