I may soon my lining my walls in photograph wallpaper!  My good friend Tim (we’ve been friend since 2 & were even in each others weddings) is an amazing youth pastor, but he also has a little side business.  He started taking pictures of us 2 years ago & we’ve loved the results of every session.  But this time he has gone above & beyond.  Sheesh, I seriously may wallpaper our walls with these pictures!

In this pic she had just finished singing "A Whole New World" from the Little Mermaid with Tim's wife, Sarah Jane

This is SO Elle

I heart her, how is the world is she 4 years old already?

And here is the picture frame shot that I was telling you about yesterday.  It turned out great!

I’m dying to see the rest of the pics!

2 Projects for less than $10

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Yesterday we marked 2 projects off our list.  First, we created an art wall in Elle’s bedroom.  We simply stretched a wire from one wall to the next & voila…done!  I think it turned out super cute & now my fridge is free of clutter.  This is her limit of art she’s allowed to hang.  If she wants to hang something else, she selects one to take down (and from there I’ll decide if I want to keep it or pitch it).  The girl need boundaries or she’ll be outta control.

The second project was just a easy.  A few weeks ago, my friend Nicole got me an old picture frame that her Dad was going to throw out.  The picture frame was going to have 2 uses.  First I used some spray paint & spruced up a rickety wooden frame with a coat of white paint.  We took the frame to Elle’s 4 year photo session a few weeks ago for a prop (I’m dying to see how the pics turned out).  But I had a longer term project in mind for the frame.  I simply ran 3 strands of the wire across the inside of empty white frame & made a cute little way for us to display invitations, notes, pretty things that we get in the mail that we just don’t want to throw out just yet.  Eventually Joe will hang it on the kitchen wall.  I LOVE THE WAY IT TURNED OUT!
Let’s do the math for these 2 projects $3 on wire + $1.50 on carpet tacks (on the back of the frame) + $5 on white spray paint + $0 on the awesome picture frame = $9.50 total.  Yay!

Hot Hot Heat

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

In efforts to beat the heat today, we headed to Grant’s Farm at 9am.  Not a bad plan, it was down right pleasant outside for the 1st hour and a half that we were there.  Let me start off by saying (and I totally realize that this is a big faux-pa to say in St Louis) but I enjoy Grants Farms so much more than the zoo.  At least this is true at the current parenting stage that we are in.  We have an amazing FREE zoo here, but it’s big & hilly.  I feel like when we go there that we have to cover so much area before we leave.  But Grant’s Farm is the perfect size for us right now.  You can do the whole thing easily in under 3 hours (we did it in 2 today).  PLUS the beauty of having small children, they don’t remember going there the year before.  Elle went last year, but didn’t remember it at all.

Look!  Joe had the camera today so there is proof that I was actually there with the girls 🙂

Riding the tram (I need to work on my posture)

Paisley was more interested in the people behind us than anything else. Next time we'll just take a ride on a city bus to make her happy.

She could be the next Pioneer Woman...

or goat groomer.

We were home by noon!  Which was perfect because around 10:30 I literally started melting.  It was so hot we didn’t even bother to take a picture of a single clydesdale.  Taking a picture would require a tad bit of effort and all of our effort was going towards standing upright in the humidity.

Why I Always Have Wet Wipes On Hand

Monday, June 21, 2010

It’s 9,000 degrees outside today.  Pretty much just makes you want to lay on your bed in front of a fan & do nothing remotely close to the outdoors.  We did venture out to The Home Depot to pick up a few things.  As we were getting out of the car, Elle spotted a candle snuffer (left over from a wedding I helped organized over the weekend).  She had no idea what it was and apparently decided to make-out  with it.

Pool Time

FYI:  putting up one of these pools by yourself is really difficult.
